Both our manual adjustments and instrument-assisted chiropractic adjustments are extremely valuable for pain management and relief of specific pain symptoms, plus overall daily comfort for many of our patients.

One group that’s sometimes glossed over when it comes to conversations about chiropractic care – and shouldn’t be – is children and young adults. While they often don’t have pain conditions that have developed as significantly as older adults, children may have vital posture and developmental issues that can be strongly aided by chiropractic care and massage therapy. Let’s go over a few of the important areas here.

Kids and Physical Development

Childhood and early adult phases are vital in terms of several areas of physical development, and the spine and skeletal system are primary factors here. Not only are kids’ bodies constantly changing and growing, they’re regularly impacted by a normal range of bumps and bruises that come with being within this age group.

With all this in mind, chiropractic care is an excellent tool for both maintenance and correction of any major issues that arise. Ensuring the system is aligned and working properly as it grows will help with proper development, often limiting future issues in major ways.

Scoliosis Exam

Another important spinal factor for parents of children to keep an eye on is scoliosis, a condition that involves the curvature of the spine in a lateral, unhealthy way. Scoliosis symptoms that are identified earlier in life are far easier to begin reversing through proper treatment, and a qualified chiropractor can easily identify scoliosis as it beings to form in a young spine.

If your child has even remote signs of scoliosis, or even if not, regular visits to the chiropractor will ensure these risks are caught early and addressed.

Posture and Pain

Finally, it’s important to note that posture issues – those that can lead to major chronic pain and other issues later in life – often begin in childhood. Kids spend a lot of time in classrooms and other areas where they’re sitting down for long periods, where they tend to slouch and hold their heads forward while using cell phones.

Over time, this can result in a loss of normal spinal curvature, plus development of a straight neck. But through regular chiropractic appointments and adjustments, not only can any negative impact here be reversed, but proper posture can be promoted in several ways.
