Chiropractic Exam

Information on our chiropractic exams

When you visit Foundation Chiropractic for your initial consultation, Our doctors will begin by performing a chiropractic consult and exam. This exam is an analysis based on your specific complaints, and is designed to determine the issues causing you pain or discomfort. After your exam is complete, our doctors will design and discuss with you a specific treatment plan to correct any issues they find and to improve your health and wellbeing. For more details about your chiropractic exam, and to schedule your appointment with our chiropractors in Orem and Lehi, Utah, please contact one of our offices.

Chiropractic care is designed to treat your entire body in order to relieve pain and improve your overall health and quality of life. Your brain communicates messages to your body through the spinal cord. When your spine is even slightly misaligned, it can cause you to experience pain in your back and neck, headaches, slower reflexes, and lower energy levels.

When you visit our office, our doctors will work with you to determine the cause of your pain through a chiropractic exam. Aside from a thorough examination, your initial analysis may include orthopedic or neurological exams, X-rays, postural analysis, dietary analysis, or a fitness evaluation. Some of the things that we may discuss during your chiropractic examination include:

  • Duration and frequency of symptoms
  • Descriptions of the symptoms
  • Areas of pain
  • The factors that increase or decrease your pain
  • Medical history, both for yours and your family’s
  • Dietary habits
  • Any prior chiropractic or other medical treatments
  • Occupational history
  • Psychological history

Our doctors will perform an orthopedic exam to diagnose specific musculoskeletal problems, conditions or injuries. Orthopedic exams are often helpful in identifying specific problems that limit your range of motion or cause you significant pain or discomfort.

There are a variety of clinical orthopedic tests that our chiropractors may perform, including tests of the spine, shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle. These tests target the various regions of the body and the various tissue types to correctly diagnose a functional problem, so that we can begin an appropriate treatment.

During your orthopedic exam, you can expect the following:

  • Physical tests for flexibility, range of motion, and reflexes
  • Specific tests for joint function, pathology, and muscle damage
  • An exam of the affected area to check for swelling lumps, bulges, mottled or bruised skin, or other visible symptoms
  • Imaging tests, such as X-rays

After your orthopedic evaluation has been completed, our chiropractors will discuss your treatment options with you to develop a customized treatment plan based on the results of your exam and your individual needs. This treatment plan may involve one or more chiropractic services.

If you have any questions about your orthopedic exam, or to make an appointment with our experienced chiropractors, please contact our office today.

Our skilled chiropractors will then design an individualized plan including one or more chiropractic treatments. Some of the services which may be included in your plan include:

  • Manual chiropractic adjustments
  • Instrument-assisted chiropractic adjustments
  • Spinal structural rehabilitation
  • Massage therapy
  • Specific stretches and exercises to help your condition

Each treatment we provide is designed using Chiropractic BioPhysics® (CBP) to ensure that we address not only your pain, but also structural abnormalities, disease, and organ disfunction.
