Chiropractic adjustment, also known as chiropractic manipulation, manual manipulation, or spinal manipulation, is a therapeutic treatment primarily used for lower back pain. When you receive a manual chiropractic adjustment, our doctors manipulate the vertebrae to realign them and to relieve the pain and tension that result from improper spine movement.
There are two types of chiropractic adjustment available – manual and instrument assisted. With manual chiropractic adjustments, your chiropractor will use his hands to maneuver your spine, or other components of your musculoskeletal system.
When you receive a manual chiropractic adjustment, our doctors will direct you to lay face-down on a treatment table. They will then perform your treatment by gently manipulating your spine and surrounding areas. Most patients who receive this treatment experience a sensation of relief. You may experience some discomfort for a short time if your surrounding muscles spasm or if you tense up during treatment. Your chiropractic adjustment may also be performed in conjunction with massage therapy or another relaxation treatment.
