When you come into Foundation Chiropractic in Orem, Utah, Dr. Jeff Brown and Dr. Scott Harris will work with you to diagnose and treat neuromuscular disorders, focusing on using manual adjustment and/or manipulation of the spine. Our goal is to improve your day to day function while lowering pain you may be experiencing. We use Chiropractic BioPhysics® (CBP) to relieve your pain and work with any structural abnormalities, disease, and organ dysfunction you might have.
When you first come into our office for chiropractic treatment, we will provide you with a clinical examination. We take into account your history and the symptoms of your condition you are experiencing. By filling out forms that give us your family medical history, including previous injuries, pre-existing medical conditions, we can get a better picture of how to provide effective treatment for your condition.
We ask for details about your pain, such as when did it begin and where it is manifesting in your body. Describing your pain can also give us clues, whether is ongoing or intermittent, if it is sharp or dull, or throbbing, and what activities lessen or increase it.
The exam itself may include tests to look at reflexes, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration. We examine your range of motion in the area causing you pain, assess your neurological integrity and look at muscle tone and strength. If necessary we may take diagnostic measures such as x-rays to help determine your treatment.
After we have made a diagnosis, we can evaluate whether your condition can be managed with chiropractic measures, and if so, outline your treatment plan with personalized goals and the expected length of time the process should take. What might your treatment look like?
– Making adjustments to the joints.
– Exercises to improve your muscle balance, coordination, and strength.
– Ways to control pain and help the soft tissues to heal (traction, ultrasound, electrical stimulation).
– Recommending ways to help with anxiety.
– How to improve your motor control and posture.
– Recommending massage or better nutrition for overall well-being.
We will establish both short-term and long-term goals to provide pain relief and help you get your normal joint function and muscle balance back. Ultimately we want to help you get back your independence when it comes to daily function and being as pain-free as possible. This might involve coming in weekly for adjustments, for example, coming in 1-3 times a week for a range of weeks. Our adjustments target pockets of inflammation along your spinal column to lower the inflammation in your body and provide pain relief.
